This study aims to explore the effectiveness of awareness and water use information to improve water efficiency in university halls of residence. The pilot studies are being carried out in Moulsecoomb Place and Phoenix Halls, University of Brighton. Water use, water use perceptions and attitudes to water re-use will be surveyed whilst monitoring any changes in water consumption. Also, parallel surveys are being conducted at selected Halls of Residences at the University of Reading to provide some basis for comparison.

This study is being carried out by the Water Efficiency Lab team, School of Environment and Technology, in collaboration with the university's Environment Team under the C-Change program. The University of Reading program is managed by Dr Katherine Hyde and her team.
