The Regional Approach to Water Efficiency

Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland

The recent Glasgow workshop on the "Regional Approach to Water Efficiency" held at the Glasgow Calendonian University on 28th April was hosted by Dr Charles Russell at the Hamish Wood Building.

The workshop began with some networking over coffee and pastries.

The first presentation by Andy Wilson from Scottish Water was well received and there were some interesting points raised in the subsequent Q&A session.    "Water Efficient Scotland" can be found here.

Andy's presentation was followed by that of Rizwan Nawaz from the University of Leeds who looked at water efficiency from both technological and behavioural aspects in order to affect long term change.  His presentation"Techno-sociological challenges and opportunities for water conservation"can be found here .

Rizwan was then followed by Alan Crilly from NI Water who focused the workshop on the NI Water approach to water efficiency.  Alan's presentation can be found here

The final presentation was made by Richard Malloy from Ricardo AEA which discussed corporate water risk in global supply chains and how the role of water efficiency is vital within these supply chains.   His presentation can be found  here

Following the subsequent Q&A session - and the lunch - which gave everyone an opportunity to network and discuss their own views on regional water efficiency - the workshop delegates were taken on a tour of the water laboratories at the university.
