WATEF study trip: Hamburg April 22 & 23

We are hoping to reschedule our study trip to the fascinating maritime city of Hamburg to April 22 and 23 2020.  However, this trip depends on a minimum group size, so please register now to express your interest in joining us.

Draft agenda

We will be learning about the innovations in water conservation and management being pioneered here in some of the newest districts in Hamburg, as well as exploring the historic Wasserkunste, finishing with a tour of the city by boat.  The event is organised by our Water Reuse & Surface Water Management technical committee.

Highlight: visit to Hamburg Water Company (Hamburg Wasser)

HAMBURG WASSER is the water and wastewater specialist for the city of Hamburg, providing both water and wastewater services through one company.
We will be learning how Hamburg Wasser are implementing their Hamburg Water Cycle technology in the new development of Jenfelder Au.
The HAMBURG WATER Cycle® (HWC) concept provides a holistic approach to both the energy supply and sanitation needs in urban areas. In this approach, the complimentary areas of water and energy infrastructure become interdependent, simultaneously protecting water resources and utilizing wastewater to produce energy. Thus, it is possible to close the material cycles directly in the residential environment.

For the event to go ahead, we will need a minimum number of attendees, so please indicate if you would like to join us by using this link by Friday 21 February so we can put the final arrangements in place.

We will be offering one free place to a PhD student - please email us at info@watefnetwork.co.uk if you would like to find out more.

The trip will cost £450 including hotel accommodation, trips and meals, but this does not include flights and transfers to Hamburg.

For more information and costs please see our website page here.

We hope you can join us in April.
